  • Thank you for explaining Arun! Keeping a phone charged at 50% sounds nice... But If my phone says it's 50%, it's got only a quarter of time left when I start using it from 100% to 50%... Best would be to keep the phone between 20% and 90%, but this means I can only use my phone at 70% of it's capacity, but it keeps my battery alive for more than 4 years! I really miss batteries you can take out of the phone and charge it without the actual phone present... This way you never use the battery, while charging and the phone will not get as hot when charging and using at the same time...

  • In my personal experience, I say not the quick/fast charging but the heat that comes with the quick/fast charging is what really degrades the battery. I have an iphone 7plus that i used for almost 4 years with the adapter(5Watt) and cable that comes with it. And after 4 years, the battery percentage on my 7plus has gone down to 86%. Now, i have an iphone 11pro, which is obviously a replacement for my 7plus that I’ve been using for a year now with the adapter(18Watt) and cable the comes with it. And i just noticed that in just a year, the battery of my 11pro has degraded to 84% compared to my 7plus that took 4 years to degrade to 86%. And to be honest, i was actually harsher to my 7plus cause i remember watching movies and gaming with it while it was charging. I never did that to my 11pro.

  • Yes, thank you for this video I appreciate it. After about a week or so of having and using my Samsung wireless charger, I started to intuitively feel that it wasn't as fast as the wired. Then for months, I started to wonder what is the difference and should I even keep my wireless charger lol. Then a year later, today, I decided to look on MNthe to confirm my intuition and came to this video lol!

Is the 10W charger better because it's slower, or is the 20W charger better because it has smarter internals and is the charger the new iPad came with? Anyone have some advice?

That's assuming that you are using the simplest possible methodology. You can also use magnetism which might take up less space once they perfect it.

  • Hi Arun! I think the visual depiction of how a battery works is misleading.. Your explanation is.. well, not exactly exhasutive but it'll do. 1) First of all, the electrons flow between the two electrodes as long as there's a potential difference. It doesn't mean that all electrons flow from negative terminal to positive terminal (This can be a footnote in the video) 2) The visual depiction of 'powers anything along the way' is wrong. The component or the phone in this case, should be placed in between the two terminals. Or, even this way, there should be a wire going from the positive terminal, through the phone and end at the negative terminal. Here, there's no closed circuit. FYI I'm a fan of your videos and your delivery. Just couldn't help but point this out
